Educational furniture is often either dull and, or gaudy. Bordesley Village Primary in Birmingham set out to change this by commissioning Rigg to supply Modela A-frame tables for different locations across 2 sites.
The substantial construction of this large design ensured longevity in addition to the initial aesthetic appeal. The sturdy steel legs and frame are strong allowing the solid wooden top to span a long distance, allowing generous seating room.
Following installation it was clear that whilst of different sizes, the common design still created a feeling of consistency for anyone travelling between rooms and locations.
Installation was in "non-standard" classroom areas - the Community Room, PSHE Room and the Executive Head's Office, demonstrating the versatility of this type of product for use as school tables, teaching or not.
The sizes specified were 90cm X 210cm, 80cm X 240cm and 90cm X 270cm. The 80cm wide version was made bespoke to fit neatly into the Head's long, slim office space.
Seating
In addition to the tables, chairs were also supplied in the following quantities:
- 2.7m table - 12
- 2.4m table - 10
- 2.1m table - 8
Summary
Rigg has increasingly found that schools and other teaching environments such as universities and colleges appreciate the need for well designed interior products such as the tables featured here. Style and appearance is a factor which is considered, perhaps more so than in the past.
