Rigg is a UK manufacturer of high quality, contemporary furniture. Clients are from the education, office and hospitality sectors. In a recent interview, Director Kevin White said, “Having a broad customer base allows the company to share experience from commercial clients with schools and colleges. The result is durable and attractive products which contrast to many items found in educational catalogues.”

Standard & Bespoke

The hands-on approach of the company to manufacturing allows clients to pick-and-mix from the regular range of products and also request custom made pieces. For years Rigg has made packages of furniture for high-end workplace installations, but then realised that the education sector was deprived of this kind of service. A tables and seating project for Goffs Academy in Cheshunt is an example of a small but considered mixed package.

Numerous standard models are produced such as Quad and Synk tables and the bespoke route is great for reception desks and storage.

Projects

Rigg has made and delivered many furniture packages over the years, some of which are featured here. Many others are in the case studies section.

Prince's Mead Independent Prep School

Long Dining tables and benches were specified from the Rigg Synk range. The items were installed into a newly built dining facility by Re-Format Architecture with Acheson as the contractor.

Lord Wandsworth College

As part of the new dining hall construction project at Lord Wandsworth College, Rigg Synk tables and benches were specified.

Being organised in rows created a striking appearance which was both practical and attractive. The surfaces are of high pressure laminate which is easy to keep clean and is available in many colours.

Cambridge 6th Form Centre

In keeping with the student age range, a mature selection of furniture was needed. An ambience was desired such as might be found in a café where sixth-formers might like to visit.

Rugged character tops and industrial style frames were specified to create an “urban” feel.

Sevenoaks School

The table used in this project is from the Rigg Quad range. It is a great component in an educational fit-out as it is both attractive and practical with plenty of leg room. Thanks to in-house manufacturing many colour choices are possible in addition to a variety of tops.

Kings School: Malthouse

Numerous items of furniture were specified by the architect for the refurbishment of the Malthouse International College building. Pieces included bespoke shelving, computer workstations and desking.

The design and materials selection was chosen to complement the characterful heritage interior.

Inside & Out

Outdoor furniture is also supplied by Rigg. Specific features are included such as appropriate species of timber and corrosion protection for metalwork. Items manufactured for outdoor use by Rigg supplied to educational clients have galvanised and powder coated steel framework.

The example shown is installed at Malthouse, Kings School. Iroko timber panels are attached to a robust frame for longevity.
